I haven’t watched much Korean drama in a while, so i thought i should give Graceful Family cause it seemed intense, full of secret (by the way i secretly want those chaebol to get their ass serve) and fun, cause i kind of loss interest in romance kdrama and i caught a clip on Instagram where they were holding a funeral for Picasso (a fish by the way) yep you that right.
Other name: 우아한 가(家) / Wooahan Ga / Elegant Family Aired: Aug 21, 2019 - Oct 17, 2019 Aired On: Wednesday, Thursday Original Network: MBN Duration: 1 hr. 20 min.
One of the best parts of this drama was Mo Seok Hee, showcasing both fierceness and vulnerability. Mo Seok Hee returns to Korea after being exiled to the U.S. 15 years ago when her mother was murdered. Her grandfather wants her to be his successor, but her father has other plans. Meanwhile, Mo Seok Hee teams up with lawyer Heo Yoon Do to find out who really murdered her mother. By the way, she was not my top favourite but I like her.
One interesting thing were Mo Seok Hee’s battle against her father and stepmother and trying to understand the relationship between her and her half-siblings. The company (and the family) is overseen by the TOP security team, led by Director Han, who is played by the exceptional Bae Jong Ok. Director Han will do whatever it takes to protect the company and is always several steps ahead. I found her to be a fascinating character. The weakest character felt like Heo Yoon Do, who stands by his morals and kind heart.
SYNOPSIS: Mo Seok Hee is an only child and her father runs the large company MC Group. She is beautiful, smart and rich. Mo Seok Hee appears like she is arrogant, but she struggles over her mother’s death. Her mother was killed 15 years ago.Heo Yoon Do is a lawyer, but he doesn’t even have an office. He solves the small problems of neighbourhood residents at a restaurant. He is full of love.
Miraculously, Heo Yoon Do is headhunted to join the TOP team at MC Group. The TOP team manages the affairs of the family who runs the MC Group. Their job includes covering up immoral or illegal behaviours done by the family. Han Je Kook heads the TOP team.
Mo Seok Hee and Heo Yoon Do work together to reveal the truth of what happened when Mo Seok Hee’s mother was killed.
While Director Han is a strong character and intriguing character, the rest of the TOP team lacked depth and direction. I wished that some of them had played a larger part and showed some personality cause at the beginning they did had potential most especially the publicity woman, and I wanted to understand why they blindly followed Director Han they just had to be a reason.
The MC are not that genius but smart enough to focus on their goal, as a duo they are together, their strategies and moves are not only from one source. They exchange ideas. They are very independent characters and when it comes to defeating their common enemy, Ms. Han, they depend on each other. Without the other, they won’t come that far.
About the romance, i don’t know much about romance but it never came to mind they will capitalize on it and the most annoying was they never give room to explore the chemistry
The story not only focused on the leads but also on the supporting and opposing ones. They will grow on you. You’ll love and hate them and come to understand them as well, as to why they did such act and how they became the person they are now.
They are very dynamic and have many sides, as what a mystery drama should have for their characters. Both villains in these dramas were the same in some ways. They both tried and came from the good side, but then saw how cruel the society they were serving and how it was unchangeable using the right methods
Two of the character that surprised me the most was prosecutor Joo Tae Hyung, who had the most growth in his character arc and Choi Na Ri and Yoon Do’s father were quite charming and very interesting most when he pour Director Han water i was surprised and excited .
The OST and the background music are well-made. The OSTs (LIAR and Black Diamond) hype up and make every scene more intense whenever they are being played.
Overall, I overestimate the ending the plot, it felt too easy, clean and there was less impact that I didn’t believe it but I did get to see another perspective on my second watch and overall the characters of “Graceful Family” have solid stories and motivations, and the drama has earned praised for its dynamic characters.
If you like mysteries/thrillers, I still recommend giving Graceful Family a try then this might be for you, just be prepared for both dramatic showdowns and frustration in figuring out who is playing double.
I will miss all the scenes with Mo Suk Hee how badass she was, the way how she dressed ( I really loved her everyday wardrobe in the drama), how she shrug, wink and her whatever face and believe it or not Director Han was definitely one of my favourites it was entertaining and intriguing; It is heartbreaking because I get attached to a character and then saw his downfall ( he was such a vibrant character die without having to see his first major achievement (again, another tragedy) until his death.
His brother and mother’s remorse as they realize what kind of son and sibling they had wasted is not enough. Their tears will never be enough. The man was already gone. ) and that just means the character was well performed, and the related scenes were properly delivered.
The last scene just showed us how solid and loyal TOP members are and how strong they believe that what they are doing is the RIGHT THING – which is very like TOP.
If you have understood TOP and Ms Han, you’ll know that this character won’t regret anything. She’s the proud one and won’t take any word from anyone. Yoon Do was nearly an exception. She saw potential in him (that he’s someone who can replace her in the future).
