Melting Me Softly

Even the sort of science/medical plot points had no real explanation or reason to them.

Synopsis

First of all , my attraction to melting me softly was Changwook’s yet even with him this drama was not just doing it for me even after watching and fast forwarding the drama cause the most surprising things is that my two siblings love this drama like for real that i keep asking myself if my taste is too expensive or what, which lead to watching it the second time but i could not see it through, when it comes to the character.

It’s a story about a man and a woman who participated in a project to be frozen for 24 hours, only to be awakened 20 years later due to a mysterious scheme. Once out of the freezer, the two experience a dangerous side effect from the project wherein they must maintain a core body temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius (approximately 88.7 degrees Fahrenheit) to survive. Coupled with the warming of their hearts from the romantic attraction, they find themselves in a sticky situation. Ma Dong Chan is a star variety show PD, who makes hits out of every show he creates. He decides to personally participate in his show called “Frozen Human Project,” but instead of waking up 24 hours later, 20 years have passed when he opens his eyes. Everyone he knows has aged 20 years, while he has maintained his perfect physique and youth from before he was frozen.

VERDICT

I found Dongchan the ML flat except for his handsome face while Miran does have an interesting personality and she’s got her goals, but i surprised at how quite she fell in love with Dongchan, at the beginning, this drama gives us some badass moment like during the filming, i wonder where all that goes to.

Secondly of all, what the heck is it? Like the plot was over the places, there was a mixture of mystery, thriller, romance, comedy, sci-fi which i have to say was not very tied together cause the idea was interesting and refreshing, but the execution was plain and all over like i said, there are times that there seem to be no logic to some of the characters actions and what they say. this drama was classified as rom–com, yet the romance isn’t the greatest in terms of buildup.

Country: South Korea

It just seem like just because they experience the same thing them; they should be together, which make the chemistry felt flat the entire time. And the comedy is just so out of point with many supporting characters just overacting, boring, annoying, From the unserious villain to the producer to Miran’s ex.

Some scenes I liked though, were some heartwarming moments. I feel like the writer should have focused more on the leads slowly functioning in society, a much better love story, you know, and i have to say some things here seem plausible like the government just seem to disappear in the thin air after making it seem the would be much involved at the beginning.

I’m sad to see this as Changwook’s comeback drama. Such a waste of talent, like i mention my 2 sibling love this drama, i know that this drama could had been better because it had so much potential, like the relationship between Miran and her brother Nam Tae, had so much unexplored potential, the same could be said for Byung-Sim, or Miran’s ex-boyfriend, and her two best friends and the conspiracy plot was simply underwhelming which was resolved ASAP and unsatisfying, and what I thought would really be the climax basically turned into a plot device to make the romance more angst.

Even the sort of science/medical plot points were really shallow and had no real explanation or reason to them, and they seemed to just be there so the main characters would be separated.

When it comes to the soundtrack, the OST was pretty good, but the show might’ve tainted the songs for me so no adding to my playlist.
